About Longford Westmeath Community Transport CLG
Longford Westmeath Community Transport CLG is a not for profit organisation managed by a voluntary board of directors and acts as agents for the National Transport Authority with responsibility for managing Local Link (Rural Transport) services in Longford Westmeath Roscommon.
South Westmeath Rural Transport Association was formed in July 2002 as part of the Rural Transport Initiative, services commenced in February 2003 with 9 routes. In 2007 services were extended to cover the whole county and in 2015 Westmeath amalgamated with Longford and changed its name to Longford Westmeath Community Transport CLG. In 2019 the geographical area was extended to include Longford Westmeath and Roscommon following a procurement process for the management of Local Link services by the National Transport Authority.
Key Responsibilities
The Dispatcher schedules and dispatches a range of transport services in accordance with needs identified, available resources and in line with standard operating procedures. He/she is also responsible for the inputting, maintenance and submission of the required monitoring data to the NTA.
Duties and responsibilities

Promptly and professionally responds to passenger service requests and, subsequently, schedules transport services to meet the needs of passengers and partner organisations to assure timely and efficient services in line with company policies and procedures

Answer customer service telephone, provide general information to current and potential passengers (timetables, public transport service timetables) and determine specific service needs in relation to accessibility and location. Research addresses and verify pick-up and destination information

Enter passenger information on ITMS Monitor, review, update and maintain the data base regularly or as required and comply with GDPR

Use a computerised scheduling and Mapping system to input passenger and service information, to plot and design services based on passenger requirements and to make transit service bookings

Assist the Manager with preparation of schedules and passenger information for service providers/drivers based on the strategic planning of service provision and on passenger requests

Communicate with transport providers/drivers to discuss passenger logs, passenger requests and scheduling issues. Act as a resource for drivers to discuss safety and other issues arising on a daily basis or as required

Trouble shoot problems encountered while delivering services and take steps to remedy identified problems and coordinate with manager on problem resolution

Be responsible for the inputting of required information to the Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS) and assist in compiling and submitting completed and accurate monitoring data to the NTA on a monthly basis
Skills and personal qualities required

Knowledge of reading and interpreting maps and scheduling effective routing and journey planning on a computerised system

Skilled in record management

Ability to be courteous and respectful and discrete in providing customer services

Ability to utilise standardised IT packages along with programme related systems

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public

Experience of working with community and voluntary organisations

Working knowledge of the Irish language
Additional Considerations for the Role
Funding: It must be understood that if funding for this position is discontinued the post holder’s contract may be terminated.
References: The successful candidate will undergo 2 reference checks before commencing employment
Annual Leave: Annual Leave entitlement will be 12.5 days per annum plus public holidays. The needs of the position must be considered when applying to take annual leave
Hours of Work: The normal hours of work are 09:30 to 13:00. These hours will vary depending on position requirements and flexibility is required in regard to start and finish times and break times, while overall the employment will be on the basis of a 17.5-hour working week
Salary: Incremental Pay Scale starting at €11,793.50 with 6% contribution to Pension
Base: The employment base for this role will be initially in Mullingar with a possible move to another location within the operational area of the company
Travel: This position may involve some travel within Ireland and occasional meetings. Travel and expenses will be paid in accordance with appropriate civil service rates
